The Annual White Cloth Gallery Summer Photography Competition is an open-entry exhibition featuring over 150 individual photographic works. Held at White Cloth Gallery in Leeds, the exhibition celebrates the best of what is Great Britain and will showcase as many works as can fit into the gallery space, while also asking what makes a photograph good? Who will win the Best in Show and walk away with £500?

Submission Guidlines
How to enter:
White Cloth Gallery accepts submissions for the Best of British photography competition via our application form, sent via email only.
1. Download our application form.
2. Fill in your details in the appropriate fields.
3. Email us your completed application form along with your images: images must be uploaded as jpgs and files must not exceed 1280 x 1024 px at 72dpi.
4. You can also enter a title and brief description for each image on the application form, of no more than 200 characters, including spaces.
5. Using the eventbrite link on the website you will need to pay a submission fee of £10 and enter your reference number at the bottom of the application form.
Who can enter?
Entry is open to all photographers from anywhere in the world – student, non-professional or professional.
What are we looking for?
The theme is Great Britain and photographers are invited to submit work that they think represent this often
eccentric nation in all its diversity. Anything goes so don’t feel limited by style. Most of all it should engage or
challenge the viewer, either to convey a story, raise a question or provoke feeling. Above all, we encourage free
expression and are keen to see new and creative approaches.
How many images can I submit?
You may make only one entry to the competition with UP TO THREE images to be considered as a sequence or individually. An administration charge of £10 is payable on submission.
Successful Entries
White Cloth Gallery will shortlist approximately 150 images from all entries for inclusion in the Summershow.
Photographers who have been shortlisted and whose work will be considered by the panel of judges will be notified by email by 16th July 2012.
Shortlisted photographers will be required to provide high quality archival prints, framed or mounted to a saleable standard to be delivered in person or by courier to: White Cloth Gallery Ltd, Aire Street, Leeds.
between 9.30am – 6pm 20 June 2012 (10-00 – 18.00 hrs only).
Selected work will be displayed in White Cloth Gallery from 23rd July – 17th September 2012.
The winner of the ‘Best In Show’ prize of £500 chosen by the panel of judges will be announced at our festival closing party on 17th September 2012. A national PR campaign will promote the winner.
The second award, ‘People’s Choice’, voted for by the public, will be announced towards the close of the show.
All works included in the show will be for sale. The proceeds from print sales will be shared between the photographer, White Cloth Gallery and the charities White Cloth Gallery supports.
Photographers will retain all copyright to their work.
