True North

TRUE NORTH is a photographic exhibition that features the work of four photographers that use Leeds (and beyond) as a subject within their work. In this present moment, this place is being photographed more than at any other time in history. The camera phone has become instrumental in how we navigate our experiences through this busy, frenetic, complicated, contradictory place. Most photographs of ‘here’ have become part of the chatter, disappearing down the timeline. Blink and they are gone. Casey Orr, Jonathan Turner, Ricky Adam and Lizzie Coombes have slowed down in the middle of this tide of photographic imagery of cats, food and selfies to really look. Is this the true north?
