Internationally acclaimed, award winning portrait photographer and film maker Chris Floyd was feeling lonely. In 2010 he decided to begin photographing people that he followed on Twitter. The project ended where it had to; after 140 characters, the maximum length of a tweet. Floyd will be bringing his unique images and innovative events programme to White Cloth Gallery in June 2012. Running for seven weeks, ‘One Hundred and Forty Characters’ is a cutting edge project and an unique portrait collection of 140 individuals. The exhibition is the culmination of Floyd’s quest to put faces to the online Twitter names that he had become familiar with online.

One year in the making, this pioneering exhibition features images inspired by Floyd’s interaction with the photographers, editors and other individuals he follows on Twitter, some of which he spoke to on a more regular basis than his closest, dearest friends and family. The portraits, all shot on a white backdrop in the artist’s studio, include a mix of people from all walks of life. We’re delighted that Chris Floyd’s innovative Twitter project will be the second exhibition at the White Cloth Gallery, Leeds. The exhibition will include a two day event where members of the public can come down to the gallery and have their portrait taken by Floyd – the very same photographer that snapped high profile celebrities such as Sir Paul McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Come and have your portrait taken for only £20.00 on the weekend of 16/17th June!
